The leak

Five places it goes.

Every vendor in this market sells a fix for the first one, because it is the easiest to explain. It is also the smallest. The other four are where a cosmetic surgery practice actually loses money, and almost nobody is working on them.

  1. The unanswered inquiry

A patient researching a rhinoplasty calls at 6:45pm on a Tuesday. The office is closed. Nobody leaves voicemail anymore, because the purchase is discretionary and there are four other surgeons in the search results. This is the leak everyone sells against.

  2. The consult that never converts Largest

Median consultation to procedure conversion sits at 40 to 50 percent. The highest performing practices convert at 75 to 85. The patient sat in your room, met you, liked you, and then went quiet. Nothing about your surgical skill explains that gap.

  3. The quote that goes cold

Surgical decision cycles run three to nine months. Coordinator follow up rarely survives past week two. The practice still in the conversation at month four is the practice that operates, and it is usually not the one that gave the best consult.

  4. The financing conversation that never happens Unworked

Installment financing approves up to $60,000 on full surgical cases, and multi tier programs exist specifically to widen approval across credit profiles. If the patient never pre qualifies, the case is lost to an affordability problem that was solvable before they ever walked in.

  5. Post operative call volume

Roughly four in five post op calls are routine recovery questions. They arrive on the same line as your new consult inquiries, staffed by the same person, and they win because they sound urgent. Every one of them buries a booking.

Your numbers

Move conversion ten points and look at what happens.

Set your consult volume, your current conversion, and your average case value. The lift assumption is ten percentage points, which is the low end of what follow up discipline alone tends to produce.

Assumes a ten point improvement in consult conversion, capped at 85 percent, which is roughly the observed ceiling for the highest performing practices. No additional marketing spend, no additional consults, same calendar.

What this is not

This is not a lead generation argument.

If your conversion sits below 65 percent, buying more leads is the expensive way to solve a problem you already have the patients for. Every case in the calculation above walked into your practice, sat down, and left without booking. They are still reachable. Most of them are still deciding.
